Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion
We will move further West to finish up the spring series with Didion’s most iconic book of essays. Tackling everything from Sacramento to John Wayne to Howard Hughes to Haight-Ashbury, these incisive, gorgeous essays focus on California in the 1960s but are timeless and ever-relevant.
This is the third Didion book we’ve read in the seminars—all for very good reason. There is simply no writer like her. Slouching will also be an excellent way to close out the series, this inimitable prose allowing Kimberly to dig in to issues and nuance of non-fiction in the hands of a master.
There are several ticket options that include all Winter/Spring Seminars and books, book with purchase (either shipped to home or picked up at Kepler’s Books), or Seminar only. The book should be read prior to the meeting date.
