Literary Appreciation 101

During these very strange times, literature offers escape, commiseration, engagement and real solace.

Please join Kimberly Ford for a very special Lit 101 seminar to explore foundational concepts such as narrative stance, structure, pacing, character development and dialogue—all by looking at delicious CLASSICS.

The group will read NO BOOK ahead of time, but will be given a packet of brief excerpts. Tolstoy, Jane Austen, E. M. Forster, V. Woolf, Dorothy Sayers and others will leave you with the very best understanding of the basics. (For those who attended Lit 101 years ago, the concepts are roughly the same—but the examples are fresh and amazing!)

Treat yourself to an hour-long escape that will leave you reading more deeply, while reminding you that good writing endures and can offer us much in times of need.

All donations will benefit Kepler’s Literary Foundation, including outreach to Title 1 schools in East Menlo Park and East Palo Alto. All donations will be MATCHED by a generous seminar-going Literary Circle member. Any amount you care to donate is appreciated.
