Boy, Snow, Bird
It seems there’s nothing literary that Helen Oyeyemi can’t do. A Nigerian-born British writer who published her first (insanely great) novel at 19, Oyeyemi takes readers to 1950s Massachussets with Boy, Snow, Bird to explore family allegiance, race, betrayal, revenge and fluid sexuality. The novel is darkly magical, a very smart retelling of Snow White. Insight into American race relations seems particularly apt from Oyeyemi’s Oxford-trained vantage. Now is the time to read this intriguing and important novel. Join us!
