We are delighted to be hosting this panel of extraordinarily talented critically acclaimed authors to celebrate Black Boy Joy, a vibrant collection of stories, comics, and poems about the power of joy and the wonders of Black boyhood, edited by Kwame Mbalia

KWAME MBALIA is a husband, father, New York Times bestselling author, and former pharmaceutical metrologist, in that order. His debut middle-grade novel, Tristan Strong Punches A Hole In The Sky, and the sequel, Tristan Strong Destroys The World, are published by Rick Riordan Presents/Disney-Hyperion. A Howard University graduate and a Midwesterner now in North Carolina, he survives on dad jokes and Cheez-Its.

PHENDERSON DJÉLI CLARK is the author of the novel A Master of Djinn, and the award-winning and Hugo, Nebula, and Sturgeon nominated author of the novellas Ring Shout, The Black God’s Drums and The Haunting of Tram Car 015. His short stories have appeared in online venues such as Tor.com, Heroic Fantasy Quarterly, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and in print anthologies including, Griots and Hidden Youth.

SUYI DAVIES is a Nigerian author of fantasy and science fiction. He has written various works for children and young adults, the latest of which is Minecraft: The Haven Trials. He currently lives in the snowy city of Ottawa, Canada.

TOCHI ONYEBUCHI is the Nebula and NAACP Image Award-nominated author of Riot Baby, which won both the New England Book Award for Fiction and an Alex Award. His young adult novels include the Beasts Made of Night series and the War Girls series. He holds degrees from Yale University, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Columbia Law School, and Sciences Po, and his short fiction has appeared in Asimov’s Science Fiction, Omenana Magazine, Lightspeed Magazine, among other places. His most recent book is the non-fiction (S)kinfolk.
