Micah Perks has long been a staple of the San Francisco fiction-writing community. As co-director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of California Santa Cruz, Perks’ mentorship has molded and inspired the early work of countless up-and-coming new writers.

Her fiction itself is no less influential. The author of the novels We are Gathered Here and What Becomes Us as well as the memoir, Pagan Time, Perks’ work has earned her an NEA fellowship, five Pushcart Prize nominations, and the New Guard Machigonne 2014 Fiction Prize.
