Session 2: Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell
The movie version of Winter's Bone was excellent and deserves its many awards, but its enormous heart and bleak grit come straight from the pages of Daniel Woodrell's amazing novel. The book is one of the best contemporary works that Kimberly has read in ages, Woodrell managing to transform the desperation of meth in the Ozarks into a complex literary gem. This is an important novel to read now, but you'll forget that as you tear through the pages of this study in excellent, deeply compelling writing.
Best-selling author, Ph.D. and former adjunct professor at Berkeley, Kimberly is eager to explore the four titles selected for the spring 2018 seminars.
Books are included in the price of the seminars and should be picked up at Kepler's (and read) prior to the meeting date.
